Every childcare centre has a philosophy on the wall. But what really shapes your child’s experience, the daily rhythms, the conversations with educators, the way the rooms feel at drop-off, starts with the person leading the team.
At Bright Blocks Early Learning Centre in Earlwood, that person is Reham. Owner, director, mum, and someone whose path to early childhood education was anything but conventional.
A Lawyer Who Chose a Different Kind of Advocacy
Before Bright Blocks existed, Reham spent nearly ten years practising as a solicitor. A decade in law teaches you things that most people in early childhood education never encounter. How to read complex legislation, how to navigate regulatory frameworks, how to build airtight processes, and how to advocate fiercely for the people who depend on you.
But after years in legal practice, Reham made a decision that surprised everyone around her. She walked away from the law to follow what she describes as her true passion. Working with and supporting young children during the most important years of their development.
It wasn’t a whim. It was a calling she could no longer ignore.
Why the Legal Background Matters for Your Family
You might wonder what a career in law has to do with running a childcare centre. The answer is more than you’d think.
The early childhood sector in Australia is one of the most heavily regulated industries in the country. The National Quality Framework, the Education and Care Services National Law, child protection legislation, workplace health and safety obligations, privacy requirements. The compliance landscape is vast and constantly evolving.
Most centre directors learn to navigate these frameworks on the job. Reham came in with nearly a decade of professional training in exactly this kind of work. She takes compliance seriously and stays across regulatory changes so families don’t have to. She understands the why behind every compliance requirement, not just the what. For families, that means something tangible. The centre’s policies aren’t copied from a template, they’re drafted with the same rigour Reham brought to her legal work. When regulations change, Bright Blocks doesn’t scramble to catch up. And the standards your child’s care is held to aren’t just met, they’re understood at a foundational level.
A Mum Who Gets It
Reham isn’t just a qualified educator and solicitor. She’s a mum. She knows what it feels like to hand your child over to someone else’s care and hope you’ve made the right choice. She knows the questions that keep parents up at night. Are they happy? Are they learning? Are they safe?
That lived experience as a parent shapes everything about how Bright Blocks operates. From the way educators communicate with families, to the transparency around what happens during the day, to the warmth that greets you at the door, it all comes back to Reham’s understanding that trust is earned, not assumed.
Her Promise to Every Family
Reham puts it simply:
“My promise is to create a warm, safe and nurturing environment where every child feels known, valued and empowered to grow.”
Bright Blocks is a 40-place centre, and that was a deliberate choice. Keeping the centre small means every child is known by name, every family has a genuine relationship with the director, and every decision is made with the children in our care specifically in mind.
Family Owned and Operated
Bright Blocks isn’t part of a chain. There’s no corporate head office making decisions from interstate. Reham owns and operates the centre herself, which means the person setting the vision is the same person greeting your child at the door.
That matters because accountability is direct. When a family has a concern, they’re speaking to the owner. When an educator needs support, they’re going to the person who built the team. When a decision needs to be made about the centre’s direction, it’s made by someone whose own reputation and values as a parent are on the line.
